Madame Tussauds London announced, Monday, that work is already well underway on a wax figure of Lewis and he will join an impressive line-up of sporting greats past and present in the attraction's interactive Sports Zone early next year.
Lewis' wax figure will be wearing an exact replica of his Vodafone McLaren Mercedes race suit and he will be holding a replica Lewis Hamilton race helmet. Lewis has already given a sitting for the studios team, where over 300 measurements and a catalogue of reference shots were taken; the figure will take six months to create at a cost of £150,000.
Liz Edwards, PR Manager for Madame Tussauds said: "Like the rest of Britain we were all delighted about Lewis's Formula 1 championship win. Although he has only raced in F1 for two seasons his name has been on our radar for some time and we'd already made our decision to include him before his Championship winning performance because of huge demand from our guests. He has undoubtedly won a place in the nation's hearts for his determination and single mindedness and a place at Madame Tussauds for an amazing track record - and he is still only 23!"
